Risk education 1 for safer driving

Risk Education Part 1, commonly referred to as “Riskettan”, is the first of two mandatory risk training courses. As a driving student, you will gain important knowledge and have the opportunity to discuss various risk-related behaviors in traffic. Topics include:

• How different types of distractions affect you as a driver, such as passengers, mobile phones, stress, and fatigue.

• Laws and consequences related to drunk driving, drug use, and fatigue behind the wheel.

• How attitudes and behavior influence you as a driver.

• Accident statistics and risk tendencies in different demographic groups (e.g., gender, age).

WHY IS RISK EDUCATION 1 REQUIRED?

You must complete Risk 1 as it is a legal requirement for obtaining a driving license in Sweden. This includes understanding the laws related to alcohol and drugs in traffic.
But more importantly – the training is designed to increase your safety and that of others on the road. This knowledge can be a matter of life and death. Risk 1 focuses on behaviors that cause the majority of accidents – many of which are fatal.
The main purpose is to raise awareness and emphasize our shared responsibility for road safety every time we drive.

CAN I ATTEND RISK 1 WITHOUT A DRIVING PERMIT?

Yes, you can take Risk 1 without having an approved driving permit from Transportstyrelsen (Swedish Transport Agency).
Although most students have their permit at this stage, it is not a strict requirement.

HOW LONG IS RISKETTAN VALID?

Risk Education Part 1 is valid until the day you obtain your driver’s license, or for a maximum of five years.
If your license is revoked (e.g., during the probation period), both Risk 1 and Risk 2 must be retaken – even if you completed them within the past five years.
Note: Risk 1 for cars does not apply to motorcycles.

CAN I TAKE RISK EDUCATION 1 IN MY LANGUAGE?

Yes. Thanks to many years of experience combined with strong teaching methods and modern technology, our certified multilingual instructors can offer Risk 1 in other languages at a competitive price.

Currently, we offer Risk 1  in the following languages:

• Persian

More languages coming soon, including Arabic and Spanish .

WHAT DOES RISK EDUCATION PART 1 COST?

The cost depends on the training provider, generally ranging between 500–900 SEK.

HOW LONG DOES THE RISK EDUCATION 1 TAKE?

Riskettan lasts approximately 3 hours, including breaks.

WHAT IS REQUIRED TO PASS RISK 1?

Two main requirements:

1. You must bring a valid ID to verify your identity.

2. You must actively participate in discussions and share your thoughts during the course, especially during reflection and value exercises.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER I COMPLETE RISK EDUCATION 1?

If you meet all requirements, we will report your completion directly to Transportstyrelsen. You don’t need to contact any authority yourself – we take care of that for you.

WHAT IF I’M LATE OR MISS MY EDUCATION TIME?

You must attend the entire session to be approved.
If you’re late or miss your appointment without prior cancellation, the course fee is non-refundable, and you must pay again to rebook.

CANCELLATION OR RESCHEDULING POLICY

There is no general right of withdrawal for driving courses and lessons once purchased.
However, you can cancel your Risk education 1 and reschedule it within 12 months for yourself or someone else.

Cancellations must be made no later than 7 days before the course starts.
Late cancellations or no-shows will be charged the full course fee.

For rescheduling driving , your account will be credited with a discount code after cancellation, which you can use to book a new time – or simply call us and we’ll help.
